Tactics - How to create it properly

Tactics

This is an overview of the tactics maker module. The process is the same whether you're setting tactics for your senior or youth team.

On the left side, you'll see a list of your available players. On the right, there's a pitch with round red markers (and yellow for the goalkeeper). Between the players list and the pitch are the substitutes. Below the players and substitutes, you'll find Instructions and Substitutions settings.

Players List

  • The player list shows all eligible first-team players (or youth players, if editing Youth tactics). It displays basic info like name, position, condition, form, and morale.
  • Hovering over the “i” icon on the left side of a player's name gives a quick overview of the player's stats. For a more detailed look, you can open the Spreadsheet view in a separate tab.

Substitutes

To assign a player as a substitute, hover over a player and drag and drop him onto one of the jerseys. If you add a goalkeeper as a substitute, the jersey will change to a red, long-sleeved one (green is for outfield players).

The Pitch

At the start, the markers on the field show a basic 4-4-2 formation. If you don't want to manually drag markers around, you can choose from 9 preset formations. These are located beneath the pitch—just select one from the dropdown and press "Load". To assign your first eleven, drag and drop players onto the pitch markers.

You can reposition players on the pitch by dragging and dropping their marker into a new position.

Note: The goalkeeper (GK) marker cannot be moved.

Instructions

You have 10 tactical settings to fine-tune your team's play style:

  1. Aggression – Set how aggressive your players are (1–100) using a slider.
    • Lower values (left) mean more non-confrontational play.
    • Higher values (right) mean higher intensity or even full commitment.
    • Extreme settings (1 or 100) are usually not advisable.
  2. Mentality – Determines your team's overall mindset:
    • Ultra Defensive – Almost everyone stays behind the ball; very few attacks.
    • Defensive – Still cautious, but willing to attack if a good opportunity arises.
    • Cautious – Slightly defense-oriented but balanced.
    • Normal – Neutral; players push forward when they can and defend when needed.
    • Attack But Be Careful – Offensive-minded but not reckless.
    • Attacking – Focused on attacking; defenders may get involved too.
    • Push Forward – High-pressure attacking play with defense secondary.
    • Total Attack – All-out offense; defensive duties often ignored.
  3. Attack Wing – Choose which side to focus attacks on:
    • None, Left, Right, Center, Left + Right, Left + Center, Right + Center
  4. Passing – Choose your passing style:
    • Mixed – Players decide between short or long passes based on the situation.
    • Short/Direct – Quick, controlled passes. Best with a strong midfield.
    • Longball – Long, aerial passes covering greater distance.
  5. Captain – Choose from your starting 11.
The captain should have high Influence.
  6. Playmaker – Choose a key player to control the game.
The playmaker should have high Creativity.
  7. Target Man – Usually a forward. Teammates will try to pass to him.
  8. Penalty Taker – Choose who takes penalties.
  9. Counter Attacks – Enable or disable quick breaks after gaining possession.
  10. Offside Trap – Enable or disable your team's attempt to catch the opposition offside.

Once you've set your substitutes, you can schedule up to 3 in-match substitutions:

  1. Select the player on the pitch to be replaced
  2. Select the substitute who will come in
  3. Choose the position for the substitute
  4. Set the time for the substitution
  5. Define the condition (trigger) for the substitution
  6. Click "Add" to confirm

Your scheduled subs will appear in a list below.

To remove one, click the “del” link next to it.
